Ngare Sero Lodge

Friday August 18

All the rooms in the lodge are in one long building a short walk from the main lodge building which has the dining room and lounge. This photo was taken the morning after we arrived.

We arrived in Arusha around 8:00 in the evening and waited in line for about 20 minutes to get through customs. Our Thomson Safari guide, Charles (shown right - photo taken later in the trip) and drivers (Mohamed and Abraham) were waiting for us just past passport check and helped us with our bags. We were quickly on our way to the lodge. We soon got a taste of the Tanzanian roads and by the end of the safari, we had all added paved roads to the short list of things we were looking forward to getting back to.

The Ngare Sero lodge has about a dozen rooms - each with four simple rooms (sitting room, bedroom, very small office with desk, and bathroom). The furnishings were simple but comfortable. We had a king size bed in our room with a reasonably comfortable mattress.

There were only a couple other people there besides our party. After getting organized in our rooms, we walked back to the main building to have a late dinner. There was no menu, but we all found something we liked.
